The start of the school year is the perfect time to teach students about KINDNESS. This fun and collaborative activity helps teach/remind students about KIND ACTIONS. Students get to design a puzzle piece with an act of kindness. There are 28 different puzzle pieces that form a heart.
Small heart size: 22βx 24β
Large heart size: 3β5βx 32β
Included are several activities that help to scaffold the process:
1. Read the STORY about a chihuahua named BIJOU and how some of her classmates werenβt always so kind. Questions are included to engage student in the story telling.
2. Get students to cut, sort and glue KIND vs UNKIND choices.
3. Use the POSTER βI am kind when I β¦β to help students brainstorm ideas for their final puzzle piece.
4. Select which heart size you want in your classroom (small or large). Hand out PUZZLE PIECES to each student. Get students to draw or spell out one act of kindness on their puzzle piece. If students get stuck, they can get inspiration from the quotes at the bottom of each puzzle piece.
5. Get students to glue the KINDNESS HEART PUZZLE together. Every puzzle piece has a number and a template is provided with the order of the puzzle pieces.
6. Try the 28 DAYS of KINDNESS challenge or get students engaged by creating their own KINDNESS challenge.
