As the sheep move down the lane, under the shade of tall Tōtara trees, we remember that 200 years ago these pastures would have been a forest full of giants like Tōtara, Kahikatea, and more.
What we see now is part of a long story - shaped by colonisation, clearing, grazing, and time. But remnants of the old forests are still here, roots deep in the earth, stories, and seeds waiting patiently beneath the soil.
It's in these moments that we are reminded how so much of "regenerating the land" is about listening to what came before, so we can plant for what’s yet to come. 🌳🐑
